I cannot think of a logical example to share with those who are reading this who are not Gay or Lesbian. Except maybe this - One thing that comes to mind is that some people are born with Red Hair - now you can CHANGE the color of your hair by dying it, bleaching it, but those old roots JUST KEEP COMING IN RED. The Real, Natural color is RED. You can cover up the hair with a WIG, but the Natural Hair underneath that wig - WHETHER YOU TAKE THE WIG OFF OR NOT, is Still RED. You can shave ALL THE HAIR OFF and have just SKIN, but when the fuzz starts coming back, the Natural color of the hair is STILL RED.
Like the fact that someone is "drawn to" (or to just put it in the vernacular - "turned on" by) Italians, or Dark-Haired people, or Blondes, Muscular, Dark-skinned people, Quiet-spoken, Humorous, Kind-Hearted people, or any trait you want to use - YOU CAN'T CHANGE THAT. It's what moves you within. You don't just decide one day, well I'm tired of Frenchmen turning me on, I think I'm gonna make a Russian turn me on today...it doesn't work that way!!!
I went to an Art School for several years and, of course, one of the classes that we went to was Figure Drawing class - where we had Women come & disrobe for us to paint, and draw their picture.....I was encouraged by my Pentecostal pastor to leave the school because this "naked women" stuff was EVIL....the model wasn't turning me on, I had no desire for a female at all - I was more interested in the Male Teacher of the class or the Male Student sitting beside me (although at the time I wouldn't even admit that to myself)!! AND, I also was secretly grateful that we never had a MALE MODEL to draw.....then I would have had a REAL problem!
It seems to me it would also be like someone being born on the Moon. If I was born on the Moon, the earth would be a planet to me, the Moon would be my home - I AM SEEING THE EARTH FROM MY INHERENT, and INBORN POINT OF VIEW. Everything I RELATE TO is based on my ORIENTATION, my VIEW, my ORIGIN. Even if I moved to Earth, I've still been BORN on the Moon. I look at people around me for Intimacy from my ORIENTATION, my VIEW, my ORIGIN - which in my case happens to be toward someone of my own gender.
I CAN ALSO SAY THIS, with all of the problems, rejection of other people, the discrimination & harrassment of some people, the criticism & indeed damnation of "mainstream" or "Fundamental" religions, the hiding, the lying, the deception, the pretending, that one who is Gay or Lesbian MUST DO until they are able to first accept themselves as they ARE, for what they ARE; and then KNOW that God accepts them as they ARE, for what they ARE; I don't know anyone IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WHO WOULD CHOOSE TO BE GAY! INDEED, it is NOT A CHOICE, anymore than chosing YOUR own birthplace or birth parents or birth nationality!!! When you cannot accept yourself as you are, being "In the Closet" is not funny to the person "In the Closet" - it is indeed "Hell" on Earth. And, I may offend some here, but I DON'T prescribe to a "promiscous" life-style that's stereotypically slapped on "BEING GAY". I am a monogomous person, and I just happen to prefer persons of my own gender. And having said THAT, I must also add that NOW that I have accepted myself and no longer hide, I am the most Blessed person in the world. I know that the Lord Loves Me even MORE than I thought before, I feel like an incredibly heavy burden has been lifted from my Shoulders, my Heart, my Soul, and have a PEACE thats truly God's. I cannot tell you not to criticize until you've "walked a mile in my shoes" - because if you aren't Gay or Lesbian, YOU CAN'T. But you CAN show God's Love to ALL.
God Loves Us ALL, and we show we are God's when we Show that LOVE!!
